As a filmmaker and media professional, I have been impacted through experimentation and learning at the University of Tampa. Classes such as Senior Seminar, taught by Warren Cockerham, encouraged me to experiment with narrative forms and develop my own voice, as evidenced in films such as Under Static. Similarly, Gregg Perkins’ class on Sound in Media provided insight on the role of sound in storytelling and helped inform how sound affects atmosphere and immersion in films. Furthermore, classes with Santiago Echeverry and Paul DeLumen gave me a new perspective on media as both a technical and theoretical field. Additionally, my responsibilities as General Manager of WUTT Spartan Radio, Student Lead Projectionist, and work in the equipment Cage helped to hone these skills outside of classwork. As reflected in works such as Under Static, All Nighter, my Ybor City documentary, and projection-mapping performances, my portfolio showcases my experimental and technical skill set.

Among other strengths, I am highly versatile and skilled at leading production efforts. As reflected in Under Static, for example, I am adept at performing various roles in the filmmaking process, including as the director, cinematographer, lighting and sound designer, and editor, all while adhering to a specific creative vision and concept. Additionally, themes of identity, surveillance, and perceptions play a key role in my films. Finally, my skills and work in virtual production and projection mapping demonstrate my ability to use the latest digital media technologies to tell stories.

Conversely, there are certain skills where I feel like additional work could help me grow professionally. As a result of taking many courses and performing many roles throughout my college career, I feel I need further experience in higher-budget productions and post-production processes to be prepared to work professionally in the industry. At times, balancing multiple leadership roles may have prevented me from focusing on a single field, but, as discussed in the next section, this will change after graduation.

Following graduation, I would like to continue working as a filmmaker in film and media production. Specifically, I hope to find a job that combines my technical and creative skills, especially in film directing, cinematography, or technical directing for both virtual and live events. Through my university education and work experiences, I have prepared myself not only for future success but also for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
