TITLE: Into the Cave
MEDIA: Sound Design / Audio Composition
SOFTWARE: Adobe Audition
HARDWARE: iMac OS X, field recording devices
SPECIFICATIONS: Digital Audio, Stereo
CLASS: FMX 210 Digital Media
PROFESSOR: Chip Neville
SEMESTER / TERM: Fall 24
INSTITUTION: University of Tampa
DESCRIPTION:
Into the Cave is an original sound design project that uses layered audio to evoke movement and atmosphere. The piece begins with natural ambient sounds, including birds, establishing an open outdoor space before transitioning into the enclosed atmosphere of a cave as footsteps guide the listener inward. Using Adobe Audition, I manipulated sound levels, reverb, and spatial depth to simulate the shift from an exterior to an interior environment. The project focuses on how sound alone can construct space, mood, and narrative, demonstrating my interest in immersive audio and environmental storytelling.
